Name's Rika, and I'm just an average something-years old girl enjoying the rest of her life.

“I consider everything that happened to be precious moments of my life. The pain. The suffering. The fun… And I am here right now, because everyone was there for me. I couldn’t have accomplished anything by standing still, without anybody’s help. I treasure every moment I have spent here. Unlucky? I feel pretty lucky. This is my resolve.”

Added a whole bunch more hydrangea blossoms and filled in the gaps with daisies, and I like it so much more! After removing hot glue strands I added the tulle overlay and I’m quite pleased with it.

Still work left to be done - a waistband, zipper, and seam binding on the bodice. But the tough stuff is over!

There’s this one little boy at this place I volunteer at and for some reason he keeps calling me “Katherine”. And if I were to correct him, he’d pronounce my nickname with a “K” [e.g. “Kika” instead of “Rika”]. It’s actually really funny… Cute, but funny.

Newtype August 2014 - Free! high res scans + translation Part 1

Here is the little surprise I’ve been talking about a few days ago.

To celebrate this blog reaching one thousand followers, please have an english scanlation of this month’ Newtype.

I did the magazine scans, cleaning and typesetting, kudouusagi did the whole translation, and ccparadise proofread and helped with typesetting. So, if you enjoy this read, please visit their blog and thank them warmly, for that couldn’t have been done without them!

As you can read in the post title, this is the first part only, there is more to come in the near future!

This is a great idea! It makes it feel so much more official :D

This is the second part of my The Making of Nora Valkyrie costume tutorial. This walk through focuses on what I have dubbed the “battle corset” or the armored under-bust corset that Nora wears over her dress. This is my step by step process of making the corset. This can be a bit trial and error so, here we go!

EASY DEATH THE KID GUNS TUTORIAL

So a few people asked me how I did my guns for Death the Kid. This time it was actually really simple!

1. Get some realistic waterguns from an awesome Ebay seller.

2. Paint the guns with silver spray paint. I used LIQUITEX acrylic spraypaint because it’s waterbased, doesn’t smell anything and dries quickly.

3. Cut the small details in craft foam (Eva foam). You can find Eva foam for cheap at Walmart or any dollar store. You have to seal the foam before painting it or you will see the texture. (And you don’t want to see the texture because it’s ugly) Since the foam will go on a hard surface I used 2-3 coats of wood glue to give a smooth surface to the pieces :)

4. Paint the details on the gun to make it look more realistic. I used black and dark gray acrylic paint.

5. Glue your details in craft foam with hot glue. Hot glue FTW.

6. For the little skull, I used Magic Model from crayola. And painted the eyes. You have to wait until it’s dry and then glue it with hot glue.

7. Add a few clear coats to protect the paint and you’re done !
